This duo brings an infectious and acoustic mix of musical
styles from America. Their americana repertoire includes blues, cajun,
zydeco and texmex and is supplemented with hits from the sixties and seventies.
During their musical journey Cleanhead & Barefoot also cross time-zones.
They re-arrange blues songs of Robert Johnson (30’s) and mix them with
Zydeco-repertoire of Clifton Chenier ( 60’s).
The musical duo - with the appealing combination of two voices, guitar and
accordion - already an impressive track record.
Cleanhead & Barefoot performed from Amsterdam to Barcelona and at different locations such
as festivals, cafes and parties. At these shows accordionist-singer Michael
Breukers got his nickname 'Barefoot' when - at threatened overheating - he put
off his shoes and played his instrument barefooted.
Together with singer-guitarist Cleanhead John he puts on a varied and swinging
show.
Their live CD Travellin received a series of positive reviews, f.i.
"Catchy music ... pure and genuine" (New Folk Sounds)
"This duo sure can produce a good atmosphere” (BN De Stem)
"This duo mixes cajun-songs with blues from all times.
With their unusual instrumentation their repertoire sounds fresh. " ( Block
Magazine ) and
"These dutch musicians disseminate good mood with handmade music." ( Bluesnews ).
Hearing Cleanhead & Barefoot play, you will be amazed how
two musicians from the dutch delta have their roots in american music-tradition.
